It’s too hot to eat.
Fine.
There is a pool at the hotel. After breakfast my brother and I swim in the pool for a couple of hours. Then we sit by the lake and drink lemonade. We drink two lemonades each every day. The lemonades are ten euros each. By the end of the trip we have spent almost three hundred euros on lemonade.
Put it on the room.
The lemonades are served in tall glasses which are brought to us on a silver tray. The glasses are frosted and filled with ice and huge wedges of lemon that take up half of the glass.
After the lemonades it is lunch time. Out parents are not eating on account of the heat, so we leave the hotel and walk along the shore of the lake into the town. The town is hot and sleepy but not in the way so many Italian towns are. We have club sandwiches in a café by the water. The sandwiches are really great, tall and salty and impossible to eat. When we have finished the sandwiches we contemplate cocktails but always order Coke. We have to go to a different café for the Coke, because the café that sells the sandwiches has only Pepsi.
We do this every day.
After lunch we walk up through the town until we reach the villas, pink and yellow buildings behind tall gates. Then we turn and walk back to the hotel and I sit in the bar with my father and my brother swims some more until it is time to get ready for dinner.
Dinner means a taxi up to some restaurant in the hills.
